PITMAN, NJ (April 18, 2005) — The K-Tron America Feeder Group is exhibiting the company’s Hurricane® P-Series vacuum receivers at the Interphex Pharmaceutical show, Jacob Javits Center, New York, New York, April 26-28, 2005, booth 2055.  Hurricane P-Series vacuum receivers now offer dense phase as well as dilute phase vacuum conveying  capabilities. Typical food and pharmaceutical applications include: fragile product handling, direct or indirect blending loading, loss-in-weight feeder refill, tablet conveying and tablet press loading, air swept sieves, batch transfer and combination feeder/receiver units for gain-in-weight batching.

The Hurricane P series vacuum conveyors are designed to meet the rigorous sanitary standards of the Pharmaceutical industry and meet the requirements of the 3-A Sanitary Standard for Pneumatic Conveyors for Dry Milk and Milk Products, Standard Number 39-00.  K-Tron Hurricane P-Series vacuum conveyors are designed to convey delicate materials such as tablets and capsules as well as free flowing to poorly flowing powders and materials that need gentle conveying.

The P-Series vacuum conveyors feature stainless steel construction (ASTM 316L grade) and offer a mirror finish product contact surface (Ra 0.05).  All units have reverse jet filters and include tri clover quick release fittings, food grade gaskets and an automatic filter cleaning system.  The PTFE membrane polyester cartridge filter features automatic reverse jet pulsing for thorough cleaning.  The band clamp design allows quick disassembly for cleaning. The design of these units features steep cone angles to ensure excellent discharge.

Three models of P-Series vacuum conveyors include the P10 conveying up to 1320 lb/hr (600 kg/hr), the P30 conveying up to 3960 lb/hr (1800 kg/hr) and the P100 for up to 8800 lb/hr. (4000 kg/hr).  Hurricane P-series can be used for simple “up and in” systems or engineered for larger, central continuous conveying systems.
